Wild and Scenic Environmental Film
Festival on Tour

Adventure . . . Environment . . . Inspiration!
South Lake Tahoe Hosts the Third Annual Wild and Scenic
 Environmental Film Festival OnTour

Wild & Scenic Environmental Film FestivalSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA:  The silver screen meets glittering Lake Tahoe once again when the Sierra Nevada Alliance hosts the Third Annual Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival On Tour on Friday, February 22, at the Lake Tahoe Community College from 7:00 to 10:00 pm.

Hosted by the Sierra Nevada Alliance and Patagonia@Heavenly, and sponsored by the South Yuba River Citizen's League (SYRCL) and Patagonia, the Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival On Tour combines award winning environmental and adventure films with the energy of local activism.

Featured films at this year’s event include –

  1. Oil and Water Project: Two kayakers embark on an “Endless Summer” style 35,000 km road trip from Alaska to Argentina in a retro fitted Japanese fire truck without a single drop of petroleum

  2. Meat Jim:  Two college vegetarians think they can transform the eating habits of a local cowboy, but the vibrant vaquero teaches them a few things

  3. Weather We Change: A group of Tahoe skiers follow in the footsteps of pro skier Alison Gannett in search of a greener ski bum lifestyle, with stunning footage of the Swiss Alps and Lake Tahoe

  4. The Story of Stuff:  A fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns, with a special focus on the United States.

This is the third time that the Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival On Tour has been held in South Lake Tahoe, while in its sixth year in its hometown of Nevada City.  Mountain towns such as Telluride and Banff boast of famous film festivals, but the Patagonia Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival On Tour’s mission sets it apart from the others.  The aim is to inspire the audience to take action to save the star of the show: our awe-inspiring and threatened environment.

Tickets are $10 each for Sierra Nevada Alliance members and $12 for non-members. Join the Alliance for $35 and receive one ticket with your new membership, which offers discounts and special invitations to other events. Tickets will be sold the evening of the event at the Lake Tahoe Community College if seats are still available.
