Sphere of Influence: Mariposa and surrounding counties.

Areas of Interest: Environmental issues; reform of 1872 mining law. Monitor local government meetings. Disseminate information to the public and decision makers. Advocate environmental responsibility as our community changes. Major issues have been redevelopment, mining, economic development, scenic highway designation, policies and specifics in regard to large projects, industrial and commercial zoning, general plan update, recycling, and maintaining our rural character. We are engaged in long term litigation with the National Park Service over their failure to produce a management plan for the Wild and Scenic Merced River, and the invalidity of the one finally produced.
