Current and Past Land Projects:
Placer Land Trust has conserved over 50 acres of
land, including wild land on the North Fork of the American River, open
space in a residential area, and conservation easements.
Placer
Land Trust and Nature Center is a community-based non-profit organization
dedicated to land conservation and environmental education in Placer
County, California. Since inception, the Nature Center has been the
main focal point of the organization, having provided environmental
education to over 55,000 students. Just this year, the Placer Land Trust
and Nature Center has hired an executive director to provide more focus on
land projects.
Traditionally, the land trust
projects that had been completed were the result of donations of fee title
or conservation easements. With the current increase in focus on land
trust operations, however, the group is moving in the direction of
securing funding from public and private sources for land and conservation
easement acquisitions.
Future Plans: PLTNC is
currently working on closing 3 agricultural easements in Newcastle
totaling 30 acres. In addition, a priority for the new executive director
is developing a strategic plan for land trust operations. Additional
Information: The web
site for the Placer Land Trust has more information on Land Trust and
Nature Center activities. The site also includes a page
with an excellent overview of the
contents of a typical conservation easement. |
