Accomplishments

Protecting Sierra Rivers, Lakes & Streams

- The Sierra Nevada Alliance has gained statewide attention to the Sierra’s impaired and polluted waters, inspired and supported new water stewardship group to form, increased state investment in protecting Sierra waters, started new water monitoring programs, and produced useful guides and toolkits for watershed efforts in the range.

Protecting Open Space, Wildlife Habitat, Working Landscapes & Scenic Views

- The Sierra Nevada Alliance helped establish the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, organized the first meetings of all Sierra land trusts, ensured public participation in the congressional Sierra Nevada Ecosystem Project, co-sponsored a series of Range Rides, and produced a report highlighting challenges to grazing in the Sierra Foothills.

Strengthening the Work of Place-Based Conservation Groups Throughout the Sierra Nevada

- The Sierra Nevada Alliance has awarded mini-grants to conservation groups, organized conferences and regional meetings, conducted special projects for community solutions, trained numerous Sierra groups in the collaborative process, and provided on-going information on funding, resources, and breaking news.
